“AKA You’re a Winner!”
Written by Edward Ricourt Directed by Stephen Surjik The Story The reason Hope paid off one of her fellow inmates to beat her up is that Kilgrave got her pregnant, and she’s so repulsed by carrying her rapist’s child that she’d risk dying from the beating if there was a chance she’d miscarry. She won’t talk to Hogarth, so Jessica goes in. Hope tells her what’s going on, and she gets her a pill to make her miscarry. She wants Hogarth to stay with her, because it’s not going to be a pleasant experience. While Hope’s going through that, Luke hires Jessica to help him find someone so that he can get information about how his wife died. They end up sleeping together again and riding around on his motorcycle together a lot. She helps him with his case until she learns what it’s for, and then she panics and tries to keep Luke away from the info. He gets it anyway, and then he goes to kill the bus driver, because he was drunk when he allegedly hit Luke’s wife. Jessica intercepts him just in time to stop him from killing the man, and she admits she’s the one who killed Reva, under Kilgrave’s influence. Luke is disgusted and furious, and he no longer wants anything to do with her. While all this has been going on, Kilgrave has been busy (more or less) legally purchasing Jessica’s childhood home. Things I Liked
Things I Didn’t
The Characters Jessica’s detective work continues to be awesome. But she’s not doing so well at avoiding being manipulative with Luke. Either she needs to not be with him or she needs to be honest with him (which will likely lead to the former happening as well anyway). What happened isn’t her fault, but he absolutely had the right to know the truth, before she slept with him. Luke has a strong sense of honor. He keeps his word, he looks out for people, and he even keeps laws that don’t make sense for him to keep, like helmet laws. With unbreakable skin, the helmet is nothing more than a fashion statement for him, but he still wears it. And he really cares about Jessica! Gah, I ship them so hard. But for all Luke’s sense of honor, he still doesn’t hesitate to go after that bus drive with the intent to kill him. He’s definitely got hero potential, but if he’s willing to murder in revenge, he has a long way to go before he gets there. Malcolm is so protective of Jessica now! Aww. Holy crap I forgot Hogarth wanted the fetus. She wants to use it to find a way got get Kilgrave’s powers for herself so she can make her divorce go the way she wants, among other things. She has no morals at all. Ugh. Overall Rating 5/5
